Okay. I still want to make the plots open and flexible, so that any RPer can help determine the course of the plot, and can become a major figure in them. ((One of the things that bothered me most about the previous leadership of Numenya, aside from vanishing for six months at a time, was creating plots that specified exactly which characters would take what roles, predetermined who would win fights, and made sure that all the major roles were given only to the characters of the alphas and owners/creators of the site.)) We can also have multiple plots, some on a grander scale than others.
I do think we should seed some ideas, though, present them as part of the site, and work towards them, letting them grow and change on their own. One of the most frequently asked about topics I've encountered when advertising this site is "what's the plot?" I'm posting to take suggestions and comments on plot ideas, and suggestions on how we would implement them.
Ideas:
The Thieves' Ring--Obviously, this one is taken pretty directly from what's starting to form on the site with Raefin and her activities in Redfriar's Market. This could expand as she tries to gain more contacts, and perhaps a group of like-minded characters could form an entire thieves' guild at some point.
A Fighters' Guild--Based on the same concept of the thieves' ring, since it's a group centered around training and utilizing a certain talent or occupation. The fighters would probably find hire as bodyguards, bouncers, or just street toughs, depending.
Clans--Almost gang-like (but not really) groups organized roughly by either species or by moral compass. If by species, you'd have it be, say, canines, felines, rodents, reptiles, avians, etc. If by moral compass, it might be a bit in description like Hogwarts houses--one particularly violent, ambitious group, one that favors stealth over violence, one that is there to help humans, another that scorns them, and so on and so forth.
Factions--Two groups, one for finding a "cure" and a way to get back to normal, another in favor of remaining half-human.
We could, of course, combine two or more of these, as in a realistic, fully-developed world these different clans, groups, factions, and guilds would overlap intricately, so few characters would be wholly aligned in one direction. There is also the possibility of subplots within these plots (say, some of the clans take a dislike to each other and start a bit of a war), but I'd let those develop naturally.

On another note, we can't neglect the possibility that the government might eventually get involved. They do, after all, keep very close tabs on the street, gangs, and other such activities. So as soon as one of the clans got big enough to warrant attention, say, at least ten or so members, or the clans started fighting each other, the government would get involved. That might be a faction as well, some type of government agent investigating the activities in the streets.

Definitely!
So, another plot element could be the "Government" element--human characters working for the government, and animal/human characters both for and against. This would include whatever actions the government takes (possibly to capture or manage) the animal/humans.
Although we can't assume they'd get involved instantly, since they wouldn't necessarily know right away that the groups having fights or organizing rings were non-human; they might initially just treat it like regular crime/suspicious activities. And the clans/guilds/whatever could, in turn, develop methods to avoid them, adding more layers.

I personally think think that having the Clans and Factions would be really fun to work with in the plot. I also agree that the plot would need the Government involved after a while. Yep, that's my vote.
